Personal

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Storage: 512 GB
  • Dock: Thinkpad Thunderbolt Dock
  • OS: Fedora 30
  • Notes: Best Laptop I’ve ever owned (except for maybe the 17” Macbook Pro)

Work

Lenovo Thinkpad T480s
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Storage: 256 GB
  • Dock: Thinkpad Mechanical Ultra Dock
  • OS: RHEL 8
  • Notes: Not as good as the X1 (it is a little larger) and the battery life could be a little better considering the interal components are mostly the same as the X1.

Mobile Workstation

Dell XPS 15 9570 with Nvidia Graphics
  • Memory: 32GB
  • Storage: 1 TB Western Digital NVMe
  • Dock: Dell Thunderbolt Dock - TB16
  • OS: RHEL 8
  • Notes: I loved it when I bought but long term Dell laptops are just not up to par with Apple or Lenovo as far as longevity. I’ve had to replace the battery in this machine twice since I bought it in 2017. I’m not planning on replacing it since the X1 and the T480s are more than enough to get my job done.
Apple Macbook Pro 15” Late 2013 with Nvidia Graphics
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Storagae: 512 GB
  • Dock: Apple Thunderbolt Display
  • OS: MacOS
  • Notes: Still a great machine that was my daily driver until 2017. It is now just my go to machine when I need MacOS. I’m likely going to recycle this and virtualize MacOS going forward

Lenovo Thinkpad Helix 2
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Storage: 256 GB
  • Dock: Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet Dock
